PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Responsibilities:

Initiate applications to state and regional agencies for grant funding relative to providing transportation and safety improvements - particularly for roadways, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Subsequently contact grant representatives as appropriate to advocate for funding and/or provide additional supporting data for grant applications.

Work with Board Members, Chief Assistant Director, and others to develop conceptual plans for transportation and safety improvements.

Provide support to Capital Projects division in resolving project issues with Caltrans and other agencies.

Liaison for DPW with advocates for bicycle facilities in handling issues regarding prospective transportation improvements as well as signing and roadway delineation devices.

Provide support to the Bicycle Advisory Group which consists of 5 citizen members, and meets intermittently (typically every 4-8 weeks) to consider ongoing bicycle oriented projects and strategies for developing future bicycle projects.

Provide support to other Transportation Services sections particularly regarding design criteria and maintenance issues relative to prospective transportation improvement projects.

Handle special (usually limited scope) projects and issues as requested by the Director and Assistant Directors.
