TRANSPORTATION PLANNING

Responsibilities:

  • Enhanced Commute Alternatives Program - Develop, evaluate, implement, manage, and monitor the Enhanced Commute Alternatives Program for employees. The program involves carpools, bus ticket subsidies, guaranteed ride home services, ride matching services, bicycle commuter incentives, a telecommuting policy and demonstration plan, and marketing. Other program areas may involve vanpools and subscription express bus service. For information contact Art Brook at 473-6752.
  • Parklands transportation planning - Manage the Tamalpais Transportation Improvements Project (Coyote Creek Bridge replacement and Tennessee Valley Trail upgrade), Manzanita Park-and-Ride lot expansion (Felton property), and Manzanita Project Study Report (parking intercept facility). These projects are designed to improve congestion, safety, and circulation in, around, and through Tamalpais Valley, and provide alternative transportation access to nearby parklands. Assist the Transportation Engineer in managing the Parklands Comprehensive Transportation Management Plan (see Funding and Forecasting).
  • Congestion Management Agency - Staff to the TAM, TAM Executive Subcommittee, TAM Outreach Subcommittee, TAM Land Use Subcommittee, and TAM Community Advisory Committees. Assist the Executive Director and its consultants in regional planning, agenda setting, and managing special projects, such as the Transportation Vision and related modal studies.
  • Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit - Work as the Public Works Transportation Services Division liaison concerning efforts related to SMART. Water Transit Authority - Work as the Public Works Transportation Services Division liaison concerning efforts related to the Water Transit Authority.
  • Tamalpais Valley Gateway Coalition - Facilitate land use and transportation discussions and program development in the Tamalpais Valley community. Countywide Plan Update - Work with the Community Development Agency to coordinate transportation issues of the Countywide Plan update with the integrated, multi-modal transportation plan.
  • San Quentin Reuse Study - Work as the Public Works Transportation Services Division liaison concerning efforts related to the San Quentin Re-Use Study.
