Welcome to the County of Marin Epidemiology Program!
Our program was originally created in 2000 to research elevated breast cancer rates in Marin County. This is still a high priority for the program. Please visit the Breast Cancer section of our site for more information.
The Epidemiology Program has since expanded its efforts.
In 2001 we conducted the first Marin Community Health Survey, the first scientific study to collect information about the health and well being of Marin residents.
We have expanded our health surveillance actives in including birth, death and communicable disease information for the County.
The Epidemiology Program will continue to broaden the scope of its research to address community health concerns such as prostate cancer, heart disease, and obesity.
Collection, analysis, and dissemination of health information is a core public health function that helps us identify health problems, implement and evaluate programs to reduce these problems, plan for effective health care delivery, and target services to persons at risk.
