New Report on Adolescent Alcohol/ Drug and Mental Health Issues in Marin
County
In Spring 2006, Marin County participated in a statewide study conducted by UC Irvine on adolescent needs. The research findings indicate that a 57% of Marin youth that participated in the study are harmfully involved with drugs and alcohol to the extent that they need a clinical assessment and treatment. The same study revealed that 41% of these youth reported depression and anxiety, and 21% reported that they had experienced suicidal ideation in the past few months.
